WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Adama was a part-time barista while he pursued a career in civil engineering, when he realized that his true passion was working with people. As the coffee shop continued to trust him with more responsibilities, he began to think about opening his own café. He wanted to create a respectful and welcoming space, centered around human connection. A café where people feel recognized and comfortable, as if they are in their own home.
In September 2005, Adama opened Koba Café. Baltimore embraced us from the beginning and over the years a community has been built. Today, Koba Café is a proud Baltimore establishment that would be nothing without its people. From the neighbors who shovel our driveway when it snows or alarm us if our window is left open at night, to our customers who meet in our café and return to take engagement photos, we appreciate the friendships we have created together.
